As you probably know, to make money you need to invest money. It is true… but it’s not always that easy for people.
What do you do when you do not have any money to spare?
Without money…

Very few people actually have any money spare at the end of the month and so to make more money they are going to have to find another way. That means that they are going to have to use their time and get creative.

Just like working a day job, they will need to exchange their time for money. At the beginning at least, once they have started to earn some money they can begin to invest what they have on things which should begin to grow the pot.
Personally I suggest that you spend some time figuring out what it is that you would like to do, how much you would like to earn and see if the two are compatible. In most cases they are not.
If a person wants to make an extra £5,000 each month, they are not going to do it by making little fun bean shaped characters using FEMO and selling them on sites like Etsy or Ebay.
Realistically, the only way that may happen is if their bean characters are spotted by a giant toy/gift company who wants to stock them in their stores across the globe. But then they are going to be working like a slave to make the amount which is going to generate that amount in income.
A small homemade gift may only sell for a couple of quid which means that you are going to be making a lot of widgets to make anything substantial in the way of money.
Plus, buying material like FEMO requires money.
You really do need to sit and think about what it is that you can do to bring home the bacon without spending money in the process. You need to figure out a premium service or product which you can offer to the kind of people who are willing to pay for it.
Products which people are willing to pay top dollar for will generally be:
- Incredibly unique and part of a limited edition or perhaps one of a kind. Think art or sculpture.
- Does something incredibly important which either saves or makes the buyer a lot of money or spare time. Basically it is life changing and life enhancing.
The downside to the first of the two in the list above is that unique art which people pay a small fortune for usually gets its value because of the artist themselves. Think Banksy; his work sells for tens of thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands all because he produced them.
Banksy is no longer just a revered artist, he is a world famous brand.
If you haven’t heard of Banksy then it is possible that you have not heard of Coca-Cola either. I can only assume that you have been living under a rock.
However, it is still possible to grow a reputation and a following who will buy art, sculptures and furniture from you at a higher than average price. But it will require a lot of work and time to build that following and produce items which people will pay good money for.
The second on that list, the life enhancing and life changing ‘thing’ which saves or makes money can be an ‘idea’.
Henry Ford’s Million Dollar Ideas Man
Henry Ford was once told by a time and productivity specialist to sack an employee who he had observed sitting at his desk several times with his legs outstretched, his feet on the desk and his hands clasped behind his head.
Henry Ford told the specialist that he couldn’t do that because that one man was responsible for coming up with ideas which made or saved the company millions of dollars each year and that those ideas generally came to him while he was sat with his feet up on his desk.
Now, I am pretty sure that you are not going to suddenly be paid a lot of money by people or companies for any ideas you have or products you have made because, as always, you will need to build up a reputation as an ideas person.
Very few things just happen to fall into your lap or you land on your feet getting paid a lot of money without any history of work and success. A results based reputation is what adds value to a person.
But all is not lost.
There are still quite a few things which a person can do to make money when they do not have any money of their own to invest.
You may need to do some learning upfront which will eat into your time but if needs must then you must do that. No one ever made money by doing something well which they had not previously done before. You have to master something to a degree.
Fortunately I can tell you of one thing which a high proportion of the population can do well enough to make money from starting today.
Writing.
Yes, believe it or not, most people have the ability to earn money writing today.
Obviously, to earn more from better paying clients you may need to poish up your writing skills but the great news is that the more you do, the better you become.
Reading will greatly increase your writing abilities.
But, if you want to start today then you can quite easily open up an account at Fiverr.com and tout for work. Even if you started at the cheapest rate of £5 per article, you can soon smash out the work.
There are people who will pay you to write content for their websites and if you will do 500-1000 words for £5, people will snap your hand off. But I don’t suggest you do it that cheaply and I explain why shortly.
Why is writing a great way to make money?
You can do this from the comfort of your own home, using only a smartphone and tablet and you can talk an article into existence.
We live in a wonderful age where we can talk directly into our smartphones, tablets and computers and have what we say converted into written text which can be edited.
There are software like Dragon Naturally Speaking – which is costly – and Google Docs that will do the job for you. Google Docs is free to use as long as you have a Gmail account.
There are also companies like Rev.com who will transcribe audio files for as little as £1.25 per minute. That means you can write an article, a sales letter and a book for pennies in the pound compared to a few years ago.
Using a smartphone you could quite easily sit on the toilet and talk a 300 – 500 word article, An article which after a little bit of refinement and editing could be worth £5, £10 or more to you.
As I said earlier, I don’t want you to focus on that kind of writing though, not when there is a lot more money to be had.
